Hindus at the ECRL

10-14 May, The European Council of Religious Leaders met in Brixen in
Italy. Two Hindus were present at the ECRL, Bharti Tailor and Madhupati
Das-who was there as proxy for Sivaram Swami. Madhupati Das gave a
presentation about the situation in Hungary and the part ISKCON Hungary has
and is playing in supporting migrants. His slides are attached.
The ECRL made a declaration which is also attached.

For the recent visit to Brussels by the Prime Minister of India, the Honourable Shri Narendra Modi, we negotiated with the Indian Embassy in Belgium to meet with the Prime Minister and air issues faced by Hindus in Belgium and Europe. This we felt appropriate as over 50% of the Hindus in Europe are either Non Resident Indians (NRIs) or People of Indian Origin (PIOs).

As many families of all religions and none face the death and disability
created in the Brussels explosion news is coming through of Hindus who were
caught in the mayhem. So far one Hindu has been identified as having died
in the Brussels attack and one was found injured and is safe. May their
families find the strength to cope.

Meeting with President of BHBCUC

Yesterday the committee of HFE met with Tarunkanti Choudhray, president of the Europe branch of the Bangladeshi Hindu, Buddhist, Christian Unity Council.

We discussed the worsening situation of BHBC communities and what can be done. Tarunji then went on to other meetings whilst we returned to our Diwali planning.
